(Adnkronos) –
Damage to Milan's commercial businesses has reached €1 million. "Yesterday morning we estimated half a million euros," Marco Barbieri, general secretary of Confcommercio Milano, told AdnKronos in the aftermath of another day of violence. "Then, with what happened that afternoon and the closure of many businesses, the figure rose to €1 million."
What matters is not so much the material damage suffered by commercial activities, but the closures or the resulting loss of income."
A figure that, according to the secretary, is destined to grow: "Today, for example, there's another demonstration. It's clear that if situations like this weekend continue, it will become a million every two days," he concludes.
Meanwhile, on the investigative front, the number of arrests is growing following the two days of tension in Milan.
271 people were accompanied to the police station:
32 young people arrested, 28 reported
Fourteen law enforcement officers were injured during the clashes. A public order summit, convened by Prime Minister Meloni, was held today. Interrogations of the arrested adults began today at San Vittore, while those of the minors will take place tomorrow at Beccaria.
After last Saturday's clashes, the protests on Sunday also degenerated into urban guerrilla warfare.
Groups of hooded youths moved between San Babila, Via Torino, and Piazza Duomo, attacking shop windows, cars, and street furniture before dispersing and regrouping in other areas of the city center.
Mayor Giuseppe Sala urged caution, emphasizing that this remains a delicate phase. After visiting several shops affected by vandalism, along with Confcommercio, he expressed his sympathy to the business owners, emphasizing the city's determination to restart despite the damage.
