(Adnkronos) – Ramzan Kadyrov has been re-elected as Chechnya's leader with 99,85 percent of the vote, the Central Election Commission announced after the completion of the counting operations in the Caucasus region. The Grozny strongman has managed to surpass himself and the Bulgarian results that have long crowned his repressive regime and the abuses for which he has been responsible: he won 94,8 percent of the vote in 2016, 99,7 percent in 2021, recalls the Russian news agency TASS.

 

Two candidates ran against Kadyrov, who has been in power in Grozny since 2007: Ismail Deniklhanov of the Just Russia party, president of the Public Chamber of Chechnya, and Khalid Nakaev, a member of the Chechen Parliament for the Communist Party. Each received 0,05 percent of the vote.
