The Hague, September 16 (askanews) – Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for war crimes. The Kosovo Specialist Chambers, based in The Hague, found him guilty of crimes committed by the KLA during and immediately after the 1998-1999 conflict. Thaci had been detained in The Hague since November 2020, when he resigned as Kosovo's president and surrendered to the court.
"The Court sentences you," the jury president declared, "to a single term of 25 years in prison, taking into account the time you have already served in detention. Mr. Thaci, you may sit down."
