(Adnkronos) – “The Umbria Jazz 2026 calendar includes 275 events, more than half of which are free, 400 hours of music, 500 musicians, 80 bands, and 15 stages. It's difficult to name all the artists who will take part in this incredible program: from Sting opening for Zucchero, from Jon Batiste to Elvis Costello, and even Laurie Anderson.” These are the words of Stefano Mazzoni, president of the Umbria Jazz Participation Foundation, in Milan at the presentation of 'Umbria Jazz', the jazz music festival taking place in Perugia from July 3 to 12, 2026.
“For ten days, the Arena Santa Giuliana, the festival's main stage, will be inhabited by big names in international music, while the packed jazz program, for purists of the genre, will be held at the Teatro Morlacchi and the Galleria Nazionale,” he adds. “When the festival was born in 1973, it had three important characteristics: it took place, quite unusually, in parks, squares, and open spaces; it was itinerant; and, above all, it was free.
We have kept this heart in most of our shows."
“This edition celebrates the centenary of three great artists: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Dario Fo, the Nobel Prize winner to whom the 2026 Umbria Jazz program is dedicated,” he concludes.
