Milan, October 9 (askanews) – "On behalf of the government, I thank Legacoop for what you represent for the nation. You are one of the pillars of the Italian cooperative system and of that model, uniquely ours, recognized and protected by the Constitution and which, as President Mattarella also recalled, combines freedom of enterprise and the principle of equality. Because cooperation demonstrates that business can be done by focusing on people, quality of work, and the common good."
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni emphasized this in a video message sent to Legacoop for the Cooperative Economy Biennial underway in Milan. "Cooperation has helped build Italy as we know it and continues to create shared value every day. Cooperation," Meloni acknowledged, "is one of the cornerstones of the social economy, along with the third sector and social enterprises.
A unique model that this government has placed at the heart of its actions since day one. Not least, through the National Plan for the Social Economy, the programmatic platform we launched thanks to a valuable process of engaging intermediary bodies. This plan, which we intend to make operational as soon as possible, includes a package of interventions, from the creation of national governance to strengthening access to credit, including the promotion of social procurement. This systemic strategy complements the measures we have already implemented, such as the green light for tax breaks and the extension of the VAT exemption for the third sector until 2036. "Concrete choices," Meloni concluded, "to strengthen the alliance between the state, businesses, and workers, with a dual objective: to harness our best energies and build a stronger, more just, and cohesive nation.
We've accomplished much, but much more remains to be done. I thank you for your unwavering spirit of collaboration. We are ready to discuss the insights and reflections that will emerge from the Manifesto you will present today.
