Midterm elections, Democrats rally in Michigan: "It's not a wave, it's a tsunami."

Detroit, Michigan, November 4 (askanews) – "It's not a wave, it's a tsunami," says Imran Aijazuddin, a Democratic supporter from Detroit, Michigan, where the party's victory in the midterm elections, which saw the Democrats take over Congress, is being celebrated. In Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed triumphed over Republican Mike Rogers in the Senate race; he is the first Muslim to be elected to the US upper house.

“It sends a very clear message to the current administration: what they're doing isn't working for ordinary people,” adds the Democratic supporter. “I really hope things get better with Abdul (El-Sayed) as our senator and Jocelyn Benson as our governor,” says Sara Basha, another Democratic supporter, who adds: “I feel like Islamophobia simply proves that hope and love can conquer much more than hate.

And that's why America is so great. It's because we're different, we're all different, and we can still all coexist and be part of one great community."
