"Today, there are recognized risk factors, and we know what can cause a child to develop myopia. The first is a lack of outdoor activity and spending time indoors, focusing on something close by. We know, in fact, that devices are more dangerous because they absorb a child's attention, causing them to tend to focus closer, causing excessive visual strain, which is the cause of myopia in these new generations."

These were the words of Paolo Nucci, professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Milan and president of SIOPS (Italian Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus), at the press conference "Stop Myopia: When Innovation Changes the Vision of Young People," promoted by Hoya Vision Care in Milan. During the conference, the results of a survey conducted by AstraRicerche on Italian parents' knowledge and attitudes toward myopia were presented, along with new clinical evidence on innovative prescription lenses that represent an advancement in the management of myopia progression.
