"I swear, Dad. I came in and I didn't steal." These are the words of the 12-year-old who was filmed in Milan, his face covered, looting shops during the urban warfare. Tg1 interviewed the boy's parents, who opened the doors of their home on the outskirts of Milan. The couple, who have been in Italy for three years, have four children.

According to his parents, the boy was with his mother on the afternoon of the riots. "Then he found other kids there, looked for his mother, and couldn't find her. So he stayed with the kids," his father explains. The videos show the 12-year-old throwing a trash can, then participating in acts of vandalism. Then, he leaves a store with about ten belts.

“They told him, ‘Take this, take this.’ When he came home, did he have new clothes? No, he didn’t have anything new,” his parents say. The 12-year-old apparently realized his mistake. “Now he won’t go out alone again. Now it’s just school and home.”
