The Cristiano Ronaldo scandal has erupted in Portugal. Today, Wednesday, September 30, the Portuguese champion left his national team's training camp to return to Madrid on a private plane. As reported by Marca, the Al Nassr striker's reaction was reportedly triggered by the latest comments from Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, who stated there was no problem with Ronaldo and took advantage of the situation to reassert his authority.
Words that CR7 deemed unconciliatory after the scandal that broke out in Norway, where Ronaldo remained on the bench for the entire 90 minutes, with Jesus preferring first Goncalo Ramos and then Joao Felix.
Portugal won that match 2-1, but the Ronaldo scandal erupted, with Ronaldo leaving straight to the locker room at the final whistle, without greeting his teammates or opponents, and then having a heated confrontation with the coach, his former coach in Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo then refused to train, preferring to stay in the hotel.
This version, however, was denied by Jesus himself: "He didn't refuse to train yesterday. Conceicao didn't train due to injury, nor did Felix, because we were trying to relieve fatigue, and Cristiano Ronaldo worked out in the gym. He'll train today. It's the fourth day, so he'll train." CR7, however, didn't take to the field and left Parken, where Portugal is in training ahead of their Nations League away match against Denmark, aboard a black Federation van.
Jorge Jesus confirmed the meeting with Ronaldo on Tuesday evening, but clarified that everything had been resolved before dinner.
However, he reaffirmed his authority as national team boss: “I can decide whatever I want. I'm the coach. I'm the coach, I told the player he wouldn't play. I told him, 'I'll put you on the bench. If I need you for 30 minutes, you'll play, otherwise not.' No player will change my mind. Not him, not anyone else in football. Not any president. Never, absolutely no one.”
