Queen Margrethe of Denmark has been hospitalized in Copenhagen for a new hip hematoma and mild dehydration. The 86-year-old former monarch will remain in the hospital for several days and will not be able to attend the funeral of Norwegian King Harald V.

This is Margherita's third hospitalization since the beginning of the year.
In mid-May, she underwent angioplasty , and later returned to the hospital after a fall that caused a hematoma . The queen turned 86 in April 2026 and left the Danish throne in January 2024 , after over fifty years of reign. The crown passed to her son, Frederick X, who now reigns alongside his wife, Queen Mary.

The former monarch will have to remain in hospital for several days, with a hospital stay expected to last the entire week. For this reason, she will not be able to attend the funeral of Norwegian King Harald V , scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, in Oslo.
