Salvatore, a worker who died in Caivano, was misled by his employer and is now under house arrest.

Salvatore Calignano, the worker who died after falling from the roof of the building where he worked without a regular contract, has revealed disturbing details about the behavior of his employer, now under house arrest.

In the case of Salvatore, the worker who died while working on the roof of a prefabricated building in Caivano, investigators are now revealing disturbing details regarding his behavior toward employees, particularly toward Salvatore himself, while he was still alive and conscious. These details include what he should have done if he had been alerted by law enforcement.

House arrest for the employer

The Naples court has decided to place Salvatore Calignano's employer under house arrest, after he died from injuries sustained in a fall from the roof of a building where he was working.

The employer is accused of working without a proper contract and of not having adequate safety equipment for his employees. Investigators who arrived at the scene of the tragedy found that all the essential safety measures required for those who perform that type of work were missing.

One aspect that is very unfortunate is how he decided to formalize the regular employment contract only on the very day of the accident that occurred to Salvatore, making the previous day appear as the first day of work, when in fact the terrible accident occurred.

“If they ask you something they hit you with a car”

It is October 2nd and Salvatore Cavignano has just fallen from the roof of the building where he was working illegally. He is on the ground, still conscious, and his boss, Michele De Rosa , sole director of Mdr Costruzioni SRL, approaches him.

Some phrases you hear today make you shiver – “ if they tell you something about someone hitting you with a car, the insurance company will pay you ” – a phrase like this explains how De Rosa has never shown a shred of humanity towards his employees, going so far as to have them make false statements just to get out of it unscathed.

Unfortunately for Salvatore , he died in hospital the next day despite the timely arrival of paramedics, his injuries being too serious.

A further factor aggravates De Rosa's already serious accusation: the formalization of the employment contract, filed at 3:35 PM on October 2nd , one hour after the accident, with an effective date of October 1st. This highlights, as if it were necessary, that De Rosa acted knowingly with respect to the employment contracts of his employees, who were in fact not hired under a contract.
