Adnkronos (Adnkronos) – A massive drug theft "sleekly" occurred in Fiji: police are searching for dozens of blocks of cocaine stolen from a cache of evidence and replaced with flour. It's not yet clear when the substitution occurred, but the drug shipment seized (Fiji, better known for its status as a tropical paradise, has over the years become a staging post for drug trafficking across the Pacific) dates back to 2019.
Only at the beginning of this year did the police managing the cache of 39 one-kilogram blocks realize that seven were missing. Hence the decision to test the remaining shipment: "They tested negative for any trace of narcotics," said Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu. Previous tests conducted immediately after the blocks were seized in 2019 had confirmed that they indeed contained cocaine at the time, he added.
