Melania Trump calls for a "lasting" ceasefire in Ukraine

Washington, Nov. 5 (askanews) – US First Lady Melania Trump called for a "lasting" ceasefire in Ukraine during a White House press conference dedicated to the humanitarian operation in Oleshky. Also attending the meeting were Ukrainian Representative David Arakhamia, head of the "Servant of the People" parliamentary group, and Kirill Dmitriev, Russian President Vladimir Putin's special envoy. "I hope the operation in Oleshky will lead to a more widespread peace.

"Every meaningful transformation begins with a small spark," the first lady said in her speech. "Now we must demonstrate the courage we showed at Olechky to find common ground," she continued. "Together, we can build something more lasting than just a temporary truce." The meeting was organized after the ceasefire in the Ukrainian city occupied by Russian forces, to allow for the evacuation of civilians and the delivery of humanitarian aid.
