Venice Lido, August 31 – (Adnkronos) – A Sunday packed with stars and great auteur cinema for the fifth day of the 82nd Venice Film Festival. The competition heats up with two of the most anticipated titles: Jim Jarmusch's "Father Mother Sister Brother" and Olivier Assayas' "The Wizard of the Kremlin."
American independent filmmaker Jim Jarmusch presents a work divided into three stories set in different countries, all centered on the theme of difficult family relationships. The characters are brought to life by a stellar cast that includes, among others, Tom Waits, Adam Driver, Mayim Bialik, Charlotte Rampling, and Cate Blanchett.
Challenging him is French director Olivier Assayas with the highly anticipated "The Wizard of the Kremlin," which will see Jude Law play Putin and Paul Dano play his spin doctor. The cast also includes Alicia Vikander, Tom Sturridge, and Jeffrey Wright.
The Out of Competition program is also packed, featuring Italian-language fare with Andrea Di Stefano's "The Maestro." The film stars Pierfrancesco Favino as an incompetent tennis coach and Tiziano Menichelli as his untalented student. Civil rights are also highlighted with "Nuestra Tierra," the first documentary by celebrated Argentine director Lucrecia Martel. The film reconstructs the tragic murder of activist Javier Chocobar, killed in 2009 for his defense of indigenous lands against mining speculation. Finally, in the Orizzonti section, Italy returns to the spotlight with "Un anno di scuola" by Laura Samani, starring Stella Wendick, Giacomo Covi, Pietro Giustolisi, and Samuel Volturno.
