Zogno: Fire destroys historic bike shop, causing damages of half a million lire.

As reported by Bergamo News , a violent fire devastated the Salvi Bike Store in Zogno, in via Mazzini, during the night between Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th September.

The alarm was raised around 2:00 a.m. , when flames spread through the premises of the business run by brothers Giuliano and Franco Salvi, a point of reference for cycling enthusiasts in the Brembana Valley for 85 years. The fire engulfed high-end bicycles, both electric and traditional, and other merchandise, while a series of explosions shattered the ground-floor windows.

The economic toll is extremely heavy : according to initial estimates, the destroyed bicycles alone are worth approximately €500, in addition to the damage to the shop and the building. No one was injured.

The apartment is uninhabitable and investigations into the causes of the fire are underway: initial hypotheses.

Firefighters intervened to put out the fire and secure the structure, along with the Zogno Carabinieri and civil protection.

The consequences also affected the upper floor , where the owners' home is located : the apartment was declared uninhabitable and the two people who live there had to temporarily leave the house.

The cause of the fire remains unclear. As reported by L'Eco di Bergamo , among the hypotheses being examined is a possible problem with the battery of an e-bike at the store, but the cause has not yet been determined. Investigators are continuing their investigations to reconstruct the origin of the flames and assess the overall extent of the damage.
