Andaf: Energy and talent, a combination for the future of businesses

Rome, October 9 (askanews) – Never before has energy revealed its strategic importance. The geopolitical landscape and ongoing technological challenges are highlighting its full value, demonstrating that it is by no means a given. The challenge facing companies and decision-makers requires the ability to look beyond the short term; it requires strategy.

For this reason, the National Congress of ANDAF (National Association of Administrative and Financial Directors), now in its forty-eighth year, addressed the connection between "Energy and Talent, Drivers of the Future." The three-day conference also included government representatives, including the Minister for the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, and the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, who delivered a video message. Agostino Scornajenchi, President of ANDAF and CEO of Snam, said: "Energy is now at the center of daily politics, communications, and newspapers.

This is no coincidence. Perhaps we're coming from years in which we thought energy was something established, something guaranteed. They discovered that this isn't actually the case, and now more than ever we realize that energy is the product of choices made far in the future, and that the key element is planning, the definition of long-term strategies.

And this is where talent intersects. Indeed, nothing can be done in the energy sector overnight, no problem can be solved overnight. Everything we do and everything we have is the legacy of the extraordinary talent of those who came before us, and we must seek and apply that same talent today, so that those who come after us, who won't be able to argue with us, can receive a system of the same quality, the same expertise, and the same resilience as the one we received." The role of Andaf fits precisely into this direction, at a time when the task CFOs are called upon to perform is no longer simply monitoring numbers but looking at a much broader, 360-degree scenario. Paolo Fanti, General Manager of Andaf: "Today's CFO must enable investments in innovation, change, and business development, and bring value—bringing value also through talent. Today, the talent, skills, interests, and relationships that give value to businesses are lacking. This is called a talent shortage, not only among young people but also in our businesses, which require skills. Andaf has been working on this for some time to provide skills and ongoing training through networking, but also through an Academy that offers courses to companies and CFOs, precisely to integrate the talent that is lacking. A recent survey of our partners revealed that only one in five feel confident in managing the change related to artificial intelligence, so four out of five feel challenged. This is the need we want to fill through events, training, and forums, such as the new one on artificial intelligence, which attracted 300 participants. This is therefore a moment of associative aggregation that is valuable for companies and, for the CFO, a key figure, enabling not only innovation through investments, but also a look towards the future, because financial statements must not only look to the past, but also provide a vision of growth prospects and solutions to problems.
