Today, we understand that the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms underlying some respiratory diseases actually have common denominators. Consequently, it is important to understand these pathophysiological mechanisms in order to best address them. For example, myo-inositol therapy, widely used in gynecological practice, now plays an important role in the prevention of certain lung diseases, especially chronic ones such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or fibrosis.
This was stated by Vittorio Unfer, gynecologist, professor of Obstetrics at UniCamillus University in Rome, and president of the Egoi-Experts Group on Inositol association, at the conference "Article 32: The Right to Breathe. The Challenges of Respiratory Diseases Between Clinical Practice and Health Policy," promoted on the occasion of World Lung Day.
