MIME is the acronym for "Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension", it was originally developed to be able to include non-textual objects in e-mail messages.
As the Internet evolved, this standard also evolved, becoming the international standard for defining object content across a range of protocols, including HTTP.
I Mime types they give instructions to the browser on how to manage file extensions and on how to open files with certain extensions.
Many of these are set on the server, for example the MIME type text/html associated with the extensions htm, html and shtml and which tells the browser to interpret all files with these 3 extensions as html files.
However, it is possible to add specific MIME types for your website from the control panel offered by your web server space management provider.
To do this, access the MIME Types section of the control panel. On the page that opens, enter the MIME/types and the extensions you want to associate with them in the appropriate fields and click Add.
It is not possible to delete or modify those already present on the system but only to insert new ones.
