Rome, October 2 (Adnkronos) – "With the majority motion approved today, an important step has been taken toward a clear and shared position for Italy: support for the peace process, recognition of the State of Palestine but without any concessions to Hamas, and full support for Israel's right to security. This position reflects the sentiment of the international community and has found a responsible balance, in the name of peace and coexistence."

Thus the national secretary of the UDC, Antonio De Poli.

It is unfortunate that the opposition missed the opportunity to converge on a choice that would have strengthened Italy's voice in Europe and the world. At such a delicate moment, there is no need for instrumental divisions, but rather for unity of purpose. Today, more than ever, it is essential for all political forces to work in the same direction, to support a just and lasting peace solution, in the interests of the Israeli and Palestinian peoples and of global stability.
