Rome, August 27 (Adnkronos) – "The only concrete autonomy proposal we've seen so far is for Rome to be the capital, which will have superpowers, administrative autonomy, legislative authority, and fiscal federalism. For the other major cities, both in the North and the South, as well as for the Regions, we're still at the point of discussion." This was stated in a statement by the Pact for the North, commenting on Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's speech at the Rimini Meeting.

"We recall," the statement continues, "that on October 22, 2017, for the first time in the history of the Republic, the citizens of Lombardy and Veneto overwhelmingly expressed their desire for greater autonomy for their regions in a consultative referendum. So far, they have gotten nothing. It's not Prime Minister Meloni's fault, who wants the prime ministership, nor Deputy Prime Minister Tajani's fault, who wants justice reform, but the fault of Salvini and his party's betrayal of the North."
