(Adnkronos) – A 76-year-old man has been arrested and placed under house arrest on suspicion of killing his 74-year-old disabled cousin. The Carabinieri of Reggio Emilia have shed light on the tragic death of a 74-year-old disabled man, who died of asphyxiation on June 27th inside the nursing home where he was staying.
Late yesterday, the Carabinieri executed a house arrest warrant issued by the investigating judge of the Reggio Emilia court against the 76-year-old, who was also responsible for the victim's legal guardianship.
According to the prosecution, the suspect allegedly acted premeditatedly to gain possession of the inheritance: despite being fully aware of the serious medical condition of his family member, who suffered from a severe form of dysphagia that required him to eat only liquids, he allegedly delivered sweets to him, specifically cream-filled doughnuts, causing his fatal suffocation.
The man is accused of premeditated murder.
