(Adnkronos) – Mirko Arrigoni, a 27-year-old man who lived in the Sorgenti neighborhood of Livorno, was killed Sunday morning in the tragic accident on the Florence-Pisa-Livorno highway. The tragedy occurred between the Interporto Est and Interporto Ovest junctions, heading toward Livorno, where the car he was traveling in with two friends overturned.

The causes of the crash are still unclear.

The Pisa Highway Police are working to reconstruct the exact circumstances, while the Public Prosecutor's Office has opened a file coordinating the investigation.

The accident occurred around 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 25. The three young men, aged 27, 28, and 29, were traveling in a blue Renault Twingo heading toward Livorno when, for reasons yet to be determined, the vehicle lost control and overturned.

In the violent impact, Mirko Arrigoni was thrown from the passenger compartment, ending up on the asphalt several meters from the car.

By the time the rescuers arrived, there was nothing more that could be done for him.

The car ended up upside down in the emergency lane after hitting the side barrier.

Among the elements being examined by investigators is the possibility of a sudden maneuver. According to an initial reconstruction reported by the local press, the car slowed down following the slowing of the vehicle in front.

At that point, a swerve would have brought the Twingo against the side barrier, causing it to overturn.

According to initial information, no other vehicles appear to have been involved. The Highway Police's investigation, along with the testimonies of the other two occupants and any witnesses, will clarify what happened in the moments leading up to the crash.

The other two young people traveling in the car survived the accident. Both were treated and taken to the emergency room at Livorno Hospital with yellow-code injuries. Their conditions, according to information released after the accident, are not serious.

Emergency medical services (118) responded to the scene, along with a medical car, ambulances from the Livorno SVS and the Cenaia Misericordia hospitals, firefighters, and traffic police. The Pegaso air ambulance was initially deployed, but its deployment was later cancelled.
