Adnkronos (Adnkronos) – The twenty-four hours that forever changed the course of events return to prime time every Wednesday in prime time. The fifth season of La7 reopens its doors to the great story with the fifth season of "Una Giornata Particolare," Aldo Cazzullo's cultural insights program.
Twelve new episodes delve into history through its protagonists, places, documents, and testimonies that still bear witness to it. The journey begins in the twentieth century with the first episode, dedicated to September 8, 1943: the armistice, the escape of the king and Badoglio, the German occupation, and the beginning of the Resistance. From the end of Fascism to the end of Nazism, with Adolf Hitler's final days in Berlin besieged by the Red Army.
And then the Great War and the battles on the Piave; the Spanish Civil War, through the bombing of Guernica and Pablo Picasso's masterpiece; the kidnapping of Aldo Moro in Via Fani and the beginning of the 55 days that would mark one of the most dramatic chapters of the Republic's history.
'A Special Day' then travels back through the centuries, to ancient Rome, to tell the story of Spartacus and the slave revolt, which over the centuries became a symbol of the fight for freedom.
The journey traverses the Middle Ages with Catherine of Siena, a mystic who penetrated the heart of 14th-century European politics, and the Renaissance with Lucrezia Borgia, at the center of her family's intrigues and power struggles, and Raphael Sanzio, who died at just 37 after leaving an indelible mark on art history. From revolutionary France comes the story of Marie Antoinette, from the Palace of Versailles to the guillotine. Nineteenth-century Italy, meanwhile, passes through the life and poetry of Giacomo Leopardi, from his childhood in Recanati to the final years in Naples of the man and poet who wrote "L'infinito."
Finally, an entire episode will be dedicated to the Renaissance, the period in which, between Florence, Rome, Milan, Mantua, and Ferrara, artists, scientists, princes, and intellectuals forever changed the way we look at humanity and the world. As always, the story comes to life in the places where these events unfolded. Aldo Cazzullo will be accompanied by "history correspondents" Claudia Benassi and Raffaele Di Placido on a journey across Italy and Europe: from Auschwitz to the Nuremberg Trials, from the Vatican Museums and Raphael's Rooms to the Louvre, from Recanati to Siena, passing through Rome, Ferrara, and some of the landmarks featured in the stories. The new episodes will be enriched by interviews and contributions from, among others, Walter Veltroni, Concita De Gregorio, Dacia Maraini, Sabino Cassese, and Matteo Maria Zuppi.
