(Adnkronos) – "It's unthinkable, especially given the ever-increasing cost of bitumen, not to find alternative solutions." This was stated by Claudio Andrea Gemme, CEO of Anas, speaking at Asphaltica, the international exhibition of technologies and solutions for road paving, safety, services, and road infrastructure, currently underway in Bologna. Gemme emphasized the role of waste recovery and the use of alternative materials in asphalt mixes: "Waste recovery, the treatments performed, and the resulting sands from the treatments give you the opportunity to have a product that is incorporated into the bitumen, reducing the overall cost and moving toward technological solutions."
Testing is also underway at the Cesano Testing Center, where Anas has already qualified some products. A crucial phase is now testing directly on the road network: in Sardinia, experimental sections have already been completed on the 131 Carlo Felice highway. "The test will provide us with the results, but we are already well advanced in enabling the company to use these materials," he added, noting that Anas has already included the possibility of using these asphalts in its technical purchasing specifications.
A process that, the CEO emphasized, still requires adequate time for safety checks and toxicological approvals.
