The run of two Italians at the ATP tournament in Shanghai, China, ended in the second round. Flavio Cobolli, world number 7 and sixth seed, lost in three sets to Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, ATP number 83, with a score of 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. The Frenchman now awaits the winner of the match between Russian Karen Khachanov (ATP 27) and British Arthur Fery (ATP 37).
The Azzurri thus suffer their fourth consecutive defeat.
Matteo Berrettini also exited in the second round. The Roman tennis player, ranked number 46 in the ATP, was eliminated by American Brandon Nakashima, number 16 in the world, in straight sets with a score of 7-6 (7-4) 7-5. Only Lorenzo Musetti remains in the competition, facing China's Zhou today.
