Pillay, a South African jurist of Tamil-Indian origin, in recognition of her long-standing commitment to upholding universal principles
of law, in the protection of human rights and in the fight against discrimination.
“Throughout her career,” the statement highlights, “Pillay has maintained a firm moral compass and a steadfast adherence to the fundamental principles of justice, helping to strengthen the role and effectiveness of international law.”
