Adnkronos (Adnkronos) –
Former referee designator Gianluca Rocchi, following the revocation of his precautionary suspension related to the Milan Prosecutor's Office investigation, is returning to football in a different role. After several appearances on Open VAR during his time as referee designator, explaining controversial incidents during the Serie A season, Rocchi will make his debut, again on DAZN, as the new pundit for the 2026-27 Serie A season.
The former referee and Head of the National Football Committee for Serie A and Serie B will share his extensive experience at the highest levels of Italian and international football with the public. He will be a regular on 'Fuoriclasse', DAZN's Sunday evening show hosted by Diletta Leotta.
The restart of the championship after the international break will therefore mark his debut as a new talent on DAZN: on Sunday, October 11, for Cagliari-Juventus at 20:45 PM, exclusively on DAZN, the former referee – who boasts 529 career matches refereed, including a Europa League final, a European Super Cup, an Italian Cup, and an Italian Super Cup, and who has had the opportunity to see many great players up close – will be in the studio post-match alongside Andrea Stramaccioni, Valon Behrami, and Andrea Marinozzi.
"I'd like to thank DAZN for this new opportunity. I've always loved taking on new challenges, and this one excites me particularly, as it will allow me to talk about one of my greatest passions: football. I can't wait to get back on track and test myself in a different role than I'm used to, guiding fans through even the most technically demanding interpretations of game dynamics that can influence refereeing decisions," commented Gianluca Rocchi.
