(Adnkronos) –
Wanda Nara will not receive a €100 monthly divorce settlement from Mauro Icardi: her assets are sufficient to support an adequate standard of living. The judges of the ninth civil section of the Court of Milan ruled this, dissolving her marriage to Mauro Icardi and rejecting the woman's request for a €100 monthly divorce settlement.

The Argentine footballer's ex-wife had also asked, during the separation, for maintenance payments of 250 euros per month.

The judges' decision was based not only on Nara's financial situation, but also on a principle that goes beyond this specific case: to obtain compensatory alimony, the difference in income between the former spouses is not enough.

It must be demonstrated that any imbalance is a consequence of choices made during the marriage and, in particular, of the sacrifice of one's professional expectations to dedicate oneself to the family.

According to the panel of judges chaired by Anna Cattaneo, this evidence was not provided in this case. Wanda Nara had claimed that, after her marriage, she had sacrificed an already established artistic career to support her family and her two daughters.

The ruling, however, expressly states that "the allegation has not been proven" and observes, on the contrary, that Nara's fame derived precisely from her marriage to Icardi, at the time a player and captain of Inter and therefore very famous in Italy.

The judges also reviewed Nara's professional activities during the marriage: from her participation in Tiki Taka in 2018 and Big Brother VIP, to her subsequent television commitments in Argentina, hosting MasterChef Argentina, music, and Dancing with the Stars. Added to this is the work she herself stated she carried out in managing her husband's sports career and image rights. The conclusion is clear: "Nara has made no professional sacrifices that need to be compensated here."

"This is a particularly significant step because it clearly clarifies the function of alimony today," comments Valeria De Vellis, a matrimonial lawyer and legal advisor to Mauro Icardi, who handled the case with her colleague Raffaele Rigitano. "The difference in income between two former spouses does not automatically determine the right to alimony. Those requesting it must demonstrate that they actually sacrificed their professional prospects during the marriage to devote themselves to their family, and that those choices resulted in the subsequent economic imbalance." "In this case," she continues, "the judges found that this proof was not provided and, indeed, that Wanda Nara's professional activity and notoriety increased during the marriage."

The judges also noted that Nara's income and assets allow her to more than meet her living needs, thus also ruling out the welfare function of alimony.

The ruling therefore rejected both Nara's claims for child support and maintenance. She was also ordered to pay two-thirds of the court costs.
