Adnkronos (Adnkronos) – A masterful lob ended a drought of over four years. Franck Kessié reclaimed the spotlight in Atalanta vs. Venezia, breaking the deadlock in the fourth minute with a high-quality move that brought back memories of two significant moments in his Italian career. The Ivorian perfectly capitalized on Nikola Krstović's assist, timed the ball, and beat Filip Stanković with a delicate touch.
An elegant finish, worth the 1-0 and certifying the midfielder's return to scoring in Serie A.
To find his last goal in the Italian top flight, we have to go back to May 22, 2022, when AC Milan beat Sassuolo 3-0 to mathematically secure their 19th Scudetto. It was a historic day for the Rossoneri, where Kessié had made his mark before ending his AC Milan career.
There is another date that takes on a particular meaning: December 20, 2016.
That was the day of Kessié's last goal for Atalanta, scored in a 2-1 victory over Empoli in Bergamo. The goal against Venezia thus represents a symbolic return to his roots for the Ivorian, who was able to find his way back to scoring in Serie A with the very team that had launched him into the Italian top flight.
