Codacons particularly criticizes the potential consequences for those who paid to cast their vote. The association's statement reads: " Users were in fact asked to spend money to cast their vote through televoting, based on mechanisms that appear not only inauthentic, but even carefully planned ." The organization also cites a possible " mockery " of viewers, arguing that the incident may have compromised the good faith of those who voted.
Hence the request addressed directly to Mediaset: " Following the revelations of a deal to stage a fake fight between contestants, Mediaset must immediately clarify and cancel yesterday's televoting ." The association also demands the refund of the sums spent on voting via SMS, declaring: " We ask that the matter be clarified immediately and the televoting for the October 26 episode be canceled, refunding viewers the amount paid via SMS ."
At this time, based on the information reported, it cannot be concluded that the dispute was entirely staged or that the televoting was actually rigged. It will be up to AGCOM's investigation to clarify whether any violations have occurred and whether Codacons' requests can be granted.
