Iranian diplomacy and tensions with the US: Trump's latest moves

Iran launches aggressive diplomacy as Trump threatens to expand strikes in maritime straits.

Iran has launched a series of diplomatic initiatives in response to harsh statements from Donald Trump , who suggested that the United States might resume large-scale offensives against the Islamic Republic. Meanwhile, Washington is considering a possible resumption of military action, awaiting orders from the Pentagon.

Iran's nuclear proposal and the seven conditions required

In November, Tehran presented, through Qatari mediators, a new offer regarding its nuclear program and peace. According to Iranian officials, the offer will be discussed only after Washington accepts the seven demands put forward by Tehran.

Among these are the lifting of international sanctions , the unfreezing of Iranian assets , and the end of the US naval blockade near the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran has also demanded the reopening of the sea canal for commercial traffic, making it conditional on the satisfaction of these points.

Strengthened military ties with Russia

Iran's National Security Advisor, Mohsen Rezaei, delivered a message to Moscow from Ayatollah Khamenei, emphasizing the importance of strategic cooperation.

According to sources, Russia has agreed to supply 90 helicopter launchers for precision missiles to Iran, despite its own military needs in Ukraine.

Moscow also reportedly shared knowledge on supersonic cruise missiles and Verba anti-aircraft systems , as well as cooperated in the development of modified Shahed drones.

President Vladimir Putin has declared his willingness to participate in international mediation, while at the Kremlin summit he also discussed the construction of gas pipelines between Russia and Iran, aimed at filling the Middle Eastern country's energy shortages.

Regional diplomacy with the Gulf countries

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a series of telephone conversations with representatives of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Turkey, and Oman. The exchanges addressed issues such as maritime security , freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and initiatives to reduce tensions in the region.

Discussions also included the possibility of granting trade exemptions to countries such as Iraq, Qatar, India, and China, while maintaining strict controls on other nations deemed hostile.

Trump's Reaction to the Latest US Attacks on Qeshm

On November 2, the United States launched operations against military targets on Qeshm Island, the largest island in the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes, described as "defensive," were aimed at thwarting potential Iranian attacks on commercial vessels. The decision came despite Trump's previous statements that no further bombing would be carried out before the midterm elections.

Trump, in an interview, stated that the US may have to "destroy the rest of Iran" and suggested the possibility of striking the Fordow nuclear facility. However, analysts note that the president is surrounded by hawkish advisers and that his next moves remain difficult to predict.

In response, Iran warned that any new American aggression would be followed by retaliation that would not be limited geographically, threatening to strike enemy bases even outside the Persian Gulf.
