Lula: "The Bolsonaros are corrupt, not me. Go ahead and check my phone."

Porto Alegre, October 20 (askanews) – During a campaign rally in Porto Alegre, attended by thousands of people ahead of the presidential runoff on Sunday, October 25, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva urged his rival Flavio Bolsonaro to make his bank statements and phone records public. Holding up blank sheets of paper, Lula explained: “This is an authorization that I am sending to the Honorable President of the Superior Electoral Tribunal, with which I consent to access to my phone records and bank statements, as well as those of my family, including my five children, and I ask that Flavio Bolsonaro do the same.” Lula accuses the family of the candidate, the son of the former populist president, of corruption and raises doubts about the resources the senator allegedly had available to purchase, in cash, a house worth 10 million reais.

"Everyone knows his past (Flavio Bolsonaro, ed.). Everyone knows my biography, everyone knows everyone's story. And I cannot allow a squadrista (literally 'militiaman', ed.) to stand behind me during a debate, with something written in his hand, accusing me of corruption. Because his family is corrupt," Lula attacked, referring to the televised duel in which Flavio Bolsonaro had written the word "corrupt" in reference to him.
