"The crisis is affecting families, but also producers, breeders, and farmers. We have ideas; we've proposed not only a tax on extra profits, but also a tax on multinationals that are speculating and have accumulated €76 billion in extra profits from oil in 2026 alone." This was stated by Pasquale Tridico, head of the Five Star Movement's delegation to the European Parliament, speaking in Strasbourg.

Tridico explained the proposal to redistribute this revenue "through a European tax relief program for truck drivers and farmers, as a fuel tax credit."
