Rome, September 12 (askanews) – In a nearly two-hour concert, Marisa Monte once again confirmed not only her extraordinary talents as a singer-songwriter and musician, but also her captivating stage presence: the audience at Rome's Auditorium Parco della Musica greeted her with repeated standing ovations during the only Italian date of her Phonica tour, during the Roma Summer Fest 2026, where she performed many of her greatest hits.
Among others, "Beija Eu," "Ainda Bem," "Maria de Verdade," "Depois," "Infinito Particular," and "De Mais Ninguém," not to mention songs she recorded with the Tribalistas, like "E Voce" and "Velha Infancia," and the new single "Sua Onda." The artist spoke to the audience several times, both in Portuguese—to address the large representation of the capital's Brazilian community in the room—and in perfect Italian, recalling that being in Rome is "like a homecoming" for her, having lived in Italy in the mid-80s while studying opera singing, a pivotal experience in her career.
On the Phonica tour, the Brazilian music icon is accompanied by the Film Harmony Orchestra, conducted by André Bachur, a 55-piece ensemble, which she introduced to the audience in its various sections, as well as fondly paying tribute to each of her band's regular musicians. This orchestral formation transported Marisa Monte's songs into a symphonic dimension, with a captivating musical and sonic effect. And to the tune of the legendary samba-enredo "Lenda das Sereias – Rainha do Mar," the audience couldn't resist, abandoning themselves to a joyful dance alongside their star in the Sala Santa Cecilia.
