In this process, it calls for the reaffirmation of the autonomy inherent in managers, along with the social role they have developed to advance the goals of progress for the entire community, in accordance with the ethics that guide each individual in the exercise of their profession and, for public officials, the duty to carry out their activities exclusively in the service of the nation."
This was stated by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, speaking at the 80th anniversary of Cida (Italian Confederation of Managers and High Professionals).
Today, a new world is taking shape amidst rapid transformations. We must keep pace. It will not be easy to harness the explosive wave of new digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and robotics, putting them to the service not only of greater profits and improved efficiency, but also of qualitative growth and a productive and social organization that values the individual, always protects their dignity, and strengthens social cohesion.
"It is a task," the Head of State continued, "that involves your daily commitment. The management roles of private and public officials, of essential services, and of emerging sectors are an essential part of a society that wishes to remain the protagonist of its own future. This is the alliance of labor, a premise in our Constitution of the universal nature of human rights, and at the same time of the duties of political, economic, and social solidarity, the paradigm of our way of life."
“For the leaders, your being part of the fabric of the Republic has also meant paying a high price.
"It happened during the terrorism," the Head of State continued, "when the Red Brigades targeted certain leaders in an attempt to dismantle the cornerstones of our way of life. We turn our thoughts to Pietro Coggiola, Carlo Ghiglieno, Manfredo Mazzanti, Renato Briano, and Giuseppe Taliercio, murdered because they were reduced to symbols by a ferocious ideological delirium. Italy would soon have defeated terrorism thanks to its civic values and its unity. That fundamental unity that must not be lost even when bitterness and conflicting merits take center stage."
"Europe is the dimension, the space in which we think and act. Awareness of this reality is a prerequisite for strengthening the European social model that no one intends to abandon, and for whose support consistent decisions by the institutions are needed," concluded Mattarella.
