Giorgia Meloni, Matteo Renzi, and Carlo Calenda. These are the three political leaders who were the most prominent figures on social media in September. Arcadia's Leader Trend monitoring program highlights several KPIs (key performance indicators) related to the leaders' social media accounts, which show how much digital attention each narrative generated in September and the digital public's attitude toward their choices, statements, and positioning.

In September, monitoring the fandoms of Italian leaders' social media accounts revealed three significant developments: a renewed and consistent growth in the Prime Minister's accounts; the second consecutive month since July of growth in the accounts of the former Prime Minister and leader of Italia Viva, which now rank ahead of those of other opposition leaders; and, finally, the sharp decline in Roberto Vannacci's accounts. After recording particularly strong growth, Vannacci closed September with a more moderate increase, which we might call "physiological."

The top two podiums, for likes and views, are dominated by Meloni's social media accounts, which collectively surpass 4 million likes and garner over 44,7 million views. Compared to the last report in July, Vannacci falls off the top three for both likes and views, while Matteo Salvini re-enters the top three. Calenda's X account, on the other hand, posts most frequently, with 141 posts between September 1st and 29th.

As always, the analysis includes the special Hate Parade, a ranking that measures the percentage change in negative comments compared to the previous month on the Facebook pages of the leaders. In September, Angelo Bonelli's Facebook page recorded the largest percentage increase, with a 924% increase in negative comments, followed by the pages of Elly Schlein and Meloni.
