Accident in Milan: A 65-year-old woman was hit by a car while running on the sidewalk.

The accident occurred on Saturday morning, around 11:00 a.m., near the Gaetano Pini Hospital. Roberto B., 68, was driving a BYD Sealion 7, a white electric SUV coupé. For reasons still unclear, the vehicle suddenly veered onto the sidewalk near the even-numbered numbers on Via Bianca di Savoia.

The vehicle traveled approximately eighty meters, striking twelve parked cars and various objects along the road. Its journey ended only when it hit the fences of a construction site. Along the way, the SUV also struck Laura Lebro , a 65-year-old resident of Bologna. The woman was on the sidewalk when she was struck and dragged for several meters before being left on the ground next to a station wagon.

Emergency responders made lengthy attempts to resuscitate her on the scene and then rushed her to the Policlinico hospital emergency room. However, there was nothing they could do for the 65-year-old: she arrived at the hospital already dead. Lebro, originally from Genoa, lived in Bologna. She had previously owned the publishing house Kore Edizioni and worked as an art director for several specialized magazines published by the same publishing house, which is now defunct.

Investigations into the dynamics of the accident

The causes of the driver's loss of control remain unclear . Local police are investigating the possibility of pedal confusion . The SUV has been seized, and further investigations will be conducted to determine whether there was a mechanical issue or failure. The vehicle was equipped with specially adapted and approved controls for the driver's disability . Technical investigations will therefore help reconstruct the incident more precisely.

Laura Lebro's death comes just two days after another fatal accident in Milan. Luigi Donato , 76, was struck while crossing the pedestrian crossing on Via Antonini, near Via Negri. He was struck by a Honda Adv 350 scooter driven by a 34-year-old man. The man, well-known in the neighborhood for his efforts, along with other residents, to secure a traffic light at the intersection, died shortly after being taken to the hospital.

With Lebro's death, according to the reported data, the number of victims of road accidents on the streets of Milan since the beginning of the year has risen to 23.

On the same day, another fatal accident occurred, this time on the Northern Ring Road. Around 16:118 PM, on the A52 between Cinisello Balsamo and Nova Milanese, Alessandro Rizzetto , 40, lost control of his car. After braking for a long time, the vehicle veered off course and overturned. The man, who died instantly, was rescued by the fire department and emergency services.
