(Adnkronos) – "Technology is as important to a blind person as the air we breathe, because without technology we can't live: it would mean locking ourselves in a room and doing absolutely nothing." These are the words of Paula Morandi, president of International Mito Patients (IMP), the international federation of mitochondrial patients, during the presentation of the documentary "Vite in Campo."

The work, produced by Telomero Produzioni with the unconditional contribution of Chiesi Italia, was presented at the Rome Film Festival.

I lost my sight 34 years ago, and my first steps with technology were with email and one of the first computers with speech synthesis. They gave me the opportunity to continue as president of a cultural association that didn't do anything for sight, but did something for others.

Without the ability to communicate with the outside world, I would never have been able to do it,” Morandi explained.
