On August 31st, the coffins of Valentina Pambianco, her husband Luca Abbasciano, and their five-year-old daughter Bianca were brought into the church well before the service began.
In front of the altar, the same family photo was placed on the three coffins: the parents' photo in a wooden frame, and the daughter's photo in a white frame.
We want to transform this moment of pain into a moment of hope. Because Christians cannot continue to live in despair, but must live in hope.
God is not the God of death. God is the God of life, and we are called to fully believe in the resurrection. “I've been thinking these past few hours,” he continues, “about something that seems almost surreal, but it brings me some consolation: because a tragedy like the one experienced by Luca, Valentina, and Bianca, we must see it with the eyes of faith and say, 'Look, love is so great that a tragedy can transform into something greater.'
We have three bodies here, three cadavers, but let's think a little about the love that drove Luca and Valentina to fully live that relationship together with their little Bianca." "Today we want too much, today we are too caught up in our own situations, our own problems. Today we are no longer able to perceive the joys and anxieties of those around us," the priest concluded.
