Rome, September 14 (askanews) – Poste Italiane CEO Matteo Del Fante and General Manager Giuseppe Lasco commented today on TG Poste's news program on the closing of the first phase of the public tender offer for TIM. Poste Italiane is valorizing TIM in an ambitious project, the scope and strategy of which have been grasped by investors.
CEO Matteo Del Fante emphasized this in an interview with TG Poste, expressing satisfaction with the completion of the first phase of the takeover bid, which concluded with Poste Italiane holding a 66,6% stake in the telecommunications group. "If we reached this number last Friday," he said, "it's because the market has understood that the best option is to join."
This result was achieved after a significant acceleration last week. "Investors," Del Fante said, "have realized that it no longer makes much sense to remain shareholders of a company that doesn't pay a dividend and is a fraction of Poste Italiane, in a context where Poste is valorizing TIM's shares with a very ambitious joint project, to the great satisfaction of all investors.
There was an awareness – Del Fante continued – the markets call it FOMO, Fear Of Missing Out, fear of being left out of the departing Poste train and so everyone worked to join. We believe this FOMO will continue from September 21st to 25th." At the end of the tender offer, Poste Italiane's CEO concluded, "we will have a largely controlling stake, and the integration of the two companies will begin." Poste Italiane's tender offer for TIM is a historic operation for the country and the region, and its success will help guide its digital transition with the creation of a major Group capable of creating jobs and competing with major international players. This is what Giuseppe Lasco, General Manager of Poste Italiane, said, commenting on the conclusion of the first phase of the offer for TIM, which saw the company increase its stake in the telecommunications group to 66,6%. "It remains and will remain a historic operation for our country," Lasco said, "unimaginable just a few years ago. By expanding the scope to include TIM, we will bring even more value to our country and our region. This integration will create a future for our people and for all TIM colleagues. We should be proud to belong to this large, international industrial group in the country, which will be able to compete with major international players to withstand the impact of innovation and digital transformation." Lasco then commented on the future challenges that can be addressed thanks to the creation of the new Group. "Poste Italiane and TIM," he said, "will be a driving force for the launch and consolidation of the Artificial Intelligence infrastructure. Even if AI will optimize resources, we will buck the trend, ensuring an advanced infrastructure while continuing to implement active labor policies and create new jobs as we have always done over the past nine years. We are proud," Lasco concluded, "because we will be providing a future for them and for future generations."
