(Adnkronos) – French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu today spoke of an "unprecedented operational approach" at the root of the violence on October 17 in France. "For the first time," the violence began at the beginning of the march, not at the end as previously.

“We saw it in Marseille since the morning: a certain number of violent individuals from the far left and ultra-left acted as a group to methodically sow violence,” he explained.

The Prime Minister also spoke about
"planning (...) of an insurrectional plot led by far-left and ultra-left groups." The fire at the Limoges town hall "is an example of this," he told the National Assembly, assuring that the authorities will provide evidence.

Lecornu then announced a “massive” security measure for Phase II of the mobilization scheduled for next Saturday, while admitting that some things “didn't work” during the mobilization against the high cost of living.

The French prime minister first referred to "our intelligence services' ability to see everything: our services have seen many things, but not everything," he later declared, speaking to the National Assembly. Lecornu then deplored "a system that is too static and not mobile enough in Paris." Finally, he spoke of the mobilization of forces, which was perhaps insufficient.

"The Interior Minister has decided not to cancel long-term permits for gendarmes under intense pressure." Sébastien Lecornu welcomed this decision.

Meanwhile, Lyon will remain under a nightly curfew. In part of the city center, the measure will be in effect from 9:00 PM this evening until 6:00 AM tomorrow, Bfmtv reports, based on information released by the Prefecture. Meanwhile, hundreds of students demonstrated peacefully in Lyon and the city's suburbs, French media reported. According to the Rhône Prefecture, which authorized the protest, approximately 750 people responded to the call of the student union UNEF and the Nouveau Parti anticapitaliste and marched for three kilometers from Vénissieux to the southeast of Lyon.
