Adnkronos (Adnkronos) – "The Community Houses represent a great opportunity to redesign a national healthcare system that is more citizen-friendly and to overcome the hospital-centric mentality that has characterized our system in recent years." This was stated by Andrea Costa, PNRR-Mission 6 expert for the Ministry of Health, speaking today at the Sumai Assoprof National Congress underway in Rome.
"Specialists can make a fundamental contribution," he added, "and Community Centers must serve as a cornerstone for establishing a network of networks, enabling hospitals to operate more effectively and ensuring citizens have access to their healthcare needs." Achieving this goal, according to Costa, requires "great political responsibility" and the awareness that "we must not address today's challenges with yesterday's tools."
The expert then called for the need to evaluate a revision of some rules, starting with professional incompatibilities.
"At a time when there is a staff shortage," he concluded, "the National Health Service must be able to open up to anyone who wants to provide service and can make a significant contribution."
