For tomorrow, Wednesday, October 21st, not only is the Civil Protection Department issuing weather warnings for thunderstorms, but many mayors are also signing orders for precautionary school closures, starting with some municipalities in Campania, where an orange alert will be in effect starting midnight tonight and for the next 24 hours.

The Campania Region Civil Protection Department has issued an Orange weather alert, effective from midnight and in effect throughout Wednesday, October 21. This alert applies to Zone 1 (Campania Plain; Naples; Islands; Vesuvian Area); Zone 2 (Upper Volturno and Matese); Zone 3 (Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, Sarno Mountains, and Picentini Mountains); and Zone 4 (Upper Irpinia and Sannio).
In fact, especially in the first part of the day, local or scattered precipitation is expected, including showers or thunderstorms, locally of moderate or heavy intensity.
For this reason, some mayors have already decided to close all schools. Classes will be suspended in the province of Naples in Ischia, Serrara Fontana, and Procida.

The same decision was made in the province of Benevento, in Piana di Monte Verna, and in the province of Avellino, in Cervinara. The list is being updated.
While we await the Civil Protection Department's announcement of all the weather warnings for tomorrow, the orange weather alert for widespread thunderstorms and rain in the province of Genoa remains in effect until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. From 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. tomorrow, the yellow alert will be in effect, again for widespread thunderstorms and rain. The Civil Protection Department urges everyone to follow the updates on the evolving weather conditions and the alert.
