(Adnkronos) – International scenarios and challenges in leasing, European policies, markets and investments, AI and drivers of change, energy transition and human capital, banks and credit intermediaries, businesses and public administrations, regulation and simplification, are the main topics of discussion during the 12 round tables and presentations, organized into three thematic sessions: October 28th Session I – The new geoeconomics: market, credit, and investments; Session II – The frontiers of leasing between regulation and innovation.
October 29th: Session III – Leasing Enabling Change: Real Estate, Equipment, and Automotive. Among others, the program includes contributions and presentations by Angelo Camilli, Confindustria Vice President for Credit, Finance, and Taxation; Gregorio De Felice, Chief Economist at Intesa Sanpaolo; Alessandro Fontana, Director of the Confindustria Research Center; Marco Fortis, Vice President and Director of the Edison Foundation; Paolo Gerardini, Assolombarda Vice President with responsibility for Credit and Finance; Renato Loiero, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Budgetary Policy; Antonio Patuelli, President of the Italian Banking Association (ABI); and Almorò Rubin de Cervin, Head of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Department of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union.
In the January-September 2026 period, new leases grew by 3,2%, peaking in the second quarter and remaining substantially stable in the third, with a volume of €27 billion and a particularly solid increase in the Real Estate sector.
Capital goods are stabilizing, while the automotive sector is growing, with a high proportion of green fuels. In Europe, leasing remains one of the most important forms of financing for SMEs, leading alongside lines of credit/overdrafts, ranking well ahead of bank loans, subsidized bank credit, and trade credit.
Italy ranks fourth in terms of new leasing contracts, and the Italian leasing industry, compared to comparable economies such as France and Germany, still has room for expansion. "Leasing is an ecosystem serving the growth, development, and modernization of businesses, and the Show is the opportunity for its key players to meet, engage with Italian and European institutions and trade associations, and reflect on the future," explains Paolo Guzzetti, president of Assilea. "Despite the ongoing high level of uncertainty for businesses, caused by geoeconomic tensions and the ongoing global redefinition of trade relations, leasing credit support for Italian SMEs continues to grow in 2026, and new leasing contracts closed the first nine months of the year on a positive note. A review of the data and, above all, the authoritative presentations that will be hosted at Lease 2026, will provide insights and recommendations for the industrial policy of the country and the EU."
"The 2026 edition of Lease further enriches its offering, both qualitatively and quantitatively," adds Giuseppe Schlitzer, General Manager of Assilea, "starting with a geopolitical and economic analysis, moving on to the technological frontier, and finally to the verticals of the three reference markets. Leasing represents a formidable development tool and, even more so in the current context, the focus of the Show is on how to develop it to support investment propensity, on the search for a balance between regulation and access to credit, on the role of artificial intelligence and the energy transition, and on that of policies and incentives." The automotive sector (cars, commercial vehicles, and industrial vehicles) remains the largest segment of the leasing market, with over 62,1% of financed volumes, followed by capital goods (26,3%) and real estate (8,9%). The automotive sector is slightly increasing in value (+2,0%), driven by passenger cars and industrial vehicles, while commercial vehicles are declining after strong growth in 2025. One in four electric cars is financed through long-term leasing or rental. Equipment leasing has stabilized (-0,9%), following a 15,2% increase in 2025, largely due to the decline in the "financial" segment above €2,5 million. It remains the preferred financing instrument for SMEs, chosen for 67,3% of investments with Nuova Sabatini, Industry 4.0, and Sabatini Green. Real estate leasing (+21,9%) is growing in all sectors, with the peak of +35% in the 'built' segment (+77,5% for the cut above 2,5 million euros), and, by type, in hotels and recreational centers (+51,9%) and office buildings (+45,0%).
