Kouame, challenging Sinner and Alcaraz? "I want to break the Grand Slam title record and win 25."

(Adnkronos) – “My biggest dream? To break the record for Grand Slam titles. It currently stands at 24, so I want to get to 25. Therefore, the results I achieve now aren't the most important thing for me. What matters is progressing in the long term.” Moise Kouame isn't hiding. In fact, he's looking to the future and isn't hiding his ambitions.

In an interview with Univers Tennis, the French tennis player revealed his ultimate goal after his victory over Lorenzo Sonego in the first round of the ATP 250 tournament in Lyon. He thus challenges Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz for the coming years, aiming to surpass the 24 Grand Slam titles won by legendary Novak Djokovic.

Kouame, a student of Richard Gasquet, began by analyzing his victory against Sonego: "Winning here, at home, is always even more exciting. The crowd was incredible and gave me a huge boost in the most difficult moments of the match. When I play in France, the atmosphere helps me. I'm someone who enjoys receiving positive energy, and I've found it here in every tournament I've played.

Even at the beginning of the year, when I was still a stranger.”

For the French tennis star, his connection to his homeland is a key factor: "France brings me luck. I feel like the connection with the French public comes more naturally." The goal now will be "to try to find the same energy elsewhere." With one certainty: "I'll succeed with time and experience, I'm sure of it."

The 17-year-old, a rising star of French tennis, looks first and foremost to the example of Carlos Alcaraz and the determination of the number 3 in the ATP rankings. It's no coincidence that a few months ago he brought up the Spaniard's remarkable comeback against Sinner in the final of Roland Garros 2025 to comment on his victory over Vallejo in the second round of the Paris Grand Slam: "I never stopped believing. Last year I was watching the final where Carlos Alcaraz saved three match points. What he said, I never stopped believing." In short, the reference points are clear. As are the goals.
