Adnkronos (Adnkronos) – "We're interrupting the Melevisione program for a short special edition of Tg3." It was September 11, 2001, and Melevisione was broadcast on Rai 3. Thousands of children were watching television when, in the afternoon, the program was suddenly interrupted. In place of the Fantabosco, images of the Twin Towers in flames appeared, while Tg3 reported live on the terrible attack in New York, in the United States.
Those children are adults today.
And for many of them, the Melevisione interruption became one of their first memories of September 11, 2001. They didn't necessarily understand what was happening. However, they remember the sudden change in programming: the anxiety, the special news broadcast, the images of the Twin Towers, and, above all, the feeling that something important had happened.
It is also through these small everyday memories that September 11th has remained in the memory of an entire generation: an afternoon that began at Fantabosco and was suddenly interrupted by reality.
