(Adnkronos) – A trivial argument over trivial matters ended in tragedy. This afternoon, a 55-year-old carpenter died after being stabbed by a man outside a bar in Cantù, in the province of Como. The attacker, a 33-year-old Italian citizen with a criminal record for drug trafficking and crimes against the person, was arrested by the Carabinieri of the local station.
The 33-year-old told officers that he had left his home already armed with a knife, fearing he might encounter a man to whom he owed €200. The man stated that the victim, hearing him speak with a Calabrian accent, mocked him for his accent. At that point, intimidated by the 55-year-old's imposing build, he became frightened and stabbed the victim in the abdomen and right shoulder.
The attacker is now in the barracks.
