Istanbul, Oct. 23 (askanews) – "We do not agree" with Israel's decision to impose a total blockade of the West Bank. "We support the Palestinian people's ability to finally realize their dream of living in peace with Israel, which must be guaranteed its security. But targeting the Palestinian population, especially peaceful or Christian villages, will not solve Israel's security problem."
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said this at a press briefing following the "4+4" ministerial meeting in Istanbul. "We must disarm Hamas, there must be stability in Gaza, the terrorists must be out of action, completely disarmed, and this is an important aspect. But we," Tajani emphasized, "cannot fail to recognize the importance of creating a Palestinian state because we have always said: we must reunify the West Bank and Gaza and then, through a strengthening of the Palestinian National Authority, create an independent state that recognizes Israel and is recognized by Israel."
