The accident occurred when the train struck a power line that had become detached and fell onto the tracks. This event prompted the immediate activation of emergency systems , forcing the train to stop.
The accident occurred near the railway bridge on Via Ravegnana, near the underpass. According to initial reports, the power cable broke loose and fell onto the railway line. The train, passing through the area, struck it, causing the train to stop. The vehicle remained stranded for about two hours.
Evacuation of passengers and intervention by the authorities
To safely manage the emergency, the train was moved back a few hundred meters to a point near the small road that runs alongside the railway, on Via Giovanni Giardini , near the Via Ravegnana bridge. Here, firefighters evacuated the approximately 250 passengers on board.
The passengers, including many foreign travelers, were escorted to the Forlì station on buses provided by the fire brigade and civil defense . All were in good health, and no injuries were reported during the operation. Emergency services, including the 118 emergency service , the Carabinieri , the local police , technicians from the Italian State Railways , and the civil defense also responded to the scene.
