Adnkronos (Adnkronos) – US President Donald Trump has rejected Iran's proposal for a seven-day ceasefire and informed his aides that the bombing of Iran will resume after the November midterm elections. The Wall Street Journal reported this, citing US officials.
Tehran's proposal included reopening the Strait of Hormuz and resuming nuclear negotiations in exchange for lifting the US blockade of Iranian ports.
"Iran has transmitted a concrete seven-day plan to the United States, via Qatar. If the necessary conditions are met, the strait can be reopened and normal sea passage restored within seven days," Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told the United Nations, stressing that "Tehran does not accept coercion, threats, or intimidation and will not surrender its sovereign rights under pressure."
For his part, Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian published a message on X in which he underlined “Chinese President Xi Jinping’s thoughtful and responsible support for a return to the Islamabad Memorandum and the resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.”
“Iran,” he added, “shares this approach and emphasizes the importance of returning to this agreement, honoring the commitments already made, and creating the necessary conditions for the start of serious, concrete, and results-oriented negotiations.”
